Established in 2012 in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec region of El Salvador, Tierra Bendita was created with the simple notion of producing excellent single origin specialty coffee and cacao for exclusive micro-roasters in the Pacific NW and East Coast in the U.S., those who demand highest quality beans with certainty of sourcing from coffee plantations and who use zero agrochemicals due to coffee rust disease. This passion gave inception to the BioKrop Project where Tierra Bendita assembled a high caliber team of professionals in agroecology with biodynamic maintenance and best practices with a balance of high tech with ancestral approach. All of Tierra Bendita's microlots are grown following similar practices from soil restoration to producing organic fertilizers, with a focus on working around analysis results to improve productivity and coffee profiles. The coffee that we are featuring is a microlot from Tierra Bendita's Las Veraneras farm which is located in the Ahuachapan province near Guatemala. Las Veraneras grows two types of coffee varieties -- Bourbon and San Pacho. Aside from growing coffee shrubs, the farm also grows cacao as well as corn and beans, which are a staple of the Salvadoran diet. The farm is also home to a variety of wildlife, native exotic trees and archaeological artifacts.
